Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a self-contained classroom full of incredible students who struggle with behavioral issues. Due to the trauma that they’ve experienced, we try to incorporate activities, tools, and programs that help to relieve stress and anxiety. The funds from this grant will be used to purchase items for that purpose.
I would like to point out that although my students do have many unique challenges, they are still just kids that want to be successful and feel accepted.
I enjoy helping them along that path!
My Project
My students struggle with behavioral challenges. Because of their particular circumstances, they don't always deal with stress and anxiety very well. Sometimes these types of activities that are distracting and also calming will help them to maintain a more balanced mood throughout the day.
I have chosen items such as the Magna-Tiles and the lighted sensory table to help stimulate their creativity while also helping to calm them at the same time.
Those and the other items I've selected will help to continue developing my student's minds while also helping them cope with the individual challenges that they face on a daily basis.
I am very excited about this project and even more excited to see how the new items impact my students!
