Help me give my students new sensory experiences with liquid floor tiles, glitter sensory balls, marble mazes and sensory windows and mats to help us provide the input we need!
The children in our classroom are the youngest learners and have special needs. They need innovative and motivating materials to help engage and meet their special educational goals.
“Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.” -Mr. Rogers
The needs in my classroom range from autism to language delays, developmental delays, physical challenges and other difficulties that effect their learning. I have two class sessions servicing up to 15 students in each. It is an integrated preschool where typically developing children serve as role models. They come to school excited to learn. My students learn best through play and activities that are new and exciting. Our school is a public school in the community. There are three special education preschool classrooms as well as a full range of special needs classes. The school serves children from grades K-6 in general education classes.
My Project
These new sensory toys and items will help provide my students with special needs the sensory input they need. It will boost fine motor skills, build gross motors skills, and challenge students and boost problem solving skills. These material will give them appropriate materials to fulfill their special needs!
Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
Sensory play builds nerve connections within the developing brain's neural pathways, which trigger a child's inclination for and ability in competing more complex learning tasks.
These materials will give our 5 senses experiences to help us learn, grow and be successful.
