Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students want to learn! Sometimes they need help to focus or redirect their feelings. Children’s brains react to sensory input in complex ways. Each of these items will allow these students to help regulate their emotions, behavior, attention, and participation in class activities. Whether they are being used to redirect energy, calm emotions, or give their brains a break, each student will have the option to fit their individual needs.
Addressing my students’ sensory needs allows them to enjoy positive learning experiences in which they can be fully engaged and successful!
The fidgets will be used by students to focus attention and filter out extra sensory information. The timers, drawing papers, and pads will be loved by my art-loving students to take a brain break when feeling overwhelmed by their academic tasks. The floor cushions and lap desks will allow students flexibility in where they can engage in their learning activity. The dance pad will be an amazing addition for the students who need to burn off a little extra energy in order to refocus, allowing a fun, healthy movement break! Giving these students a variety of options will promote a positive learning environment and enrich each and everyone’s learning experiences throughout their school day.
