I was lucky enough to be given the most amazingly unique, special, silly and courageous group of kiddos this year! From the moment I met them I just knew that we were meant to be together!! My classroom is different than many other classrooms in the fact that I have students from Kindergarten-5th grade all together in one learning space!!!
We have built this incredible one-of-a-kind classroom community!!
The compassion and caring nature my older students have for my younger ones is so genuine and heartwarming. My little kiddos were given this truly special gift of having a whole new bunch of older brothers and sisters to look out for them, mentor them and grow beside them!
I find myself sitting back in my chair sometimes, just watching them, in complete awe of the little family we have created and thinking how grateful I am to be a part of it! I give everything I've got day in and day out to be the best teacher I can be for them individually and as a whole. They are in return making me a better teacher and person! Everyday they teach ME, challenge ME and inspire ME!
My Project
I have a very unique group of students with special needs in my classroom. We have a wide range of ages and abilities and all of them come with different needs and varying challenges they face as they try to learn. The diverse types of hands-on materials I am requesting with this project shines a light on the wide array of learning styles seen within my classroom!!
From the Alphabet Train Floor Puzzle for my Kindergarten’s to the Math Folder Game Library for my 3rd-5th Graders there will be so much interactive learning taking place, we will be soaring to new educational heights!!
My students have such creative minds and I wanted to offer them new ways of expressing their adventurous ideas! The Magna-Tiles will allow them to build until their little hearts are content or they can dig into the new treasure trove of art supplies including colored sand, pom-poms, construction paper, googly eyes, giant clear view letter stamps and stamp pads (just to name a few) and create a masterpiece!
The classroom community we have built is truly something special! Coming from a Title 1 school my students face many challenges inside and outside the classroom. This project is my way of trying to support them and give them access to better materials that will make their educational life a bit easier. The future of the world is in my classroom and I want to support them, encourage them and give them the tools they need to be the best students and young citizens they can be!
