The students in my Special Education classroom are creative. They are loving. They are exciting. They are hard-working. They love hands-on activities. They love to show off when they have done something well. They love to help one another. They love to encourage each other. They are so much more than so many people see.
In special education, hard work, persistence, and confidence prove a label is only a means of receiving the tools and resources needed to reach maximum success.
I want to have those tools and resources to help my students to shine! I know what they are capable of and I know how amazing they are. I just want to make sure that they have the tools necessary to see that for themselves. Our rural area and small school is full of people who care about these kids, but often they struggle to care about themselves. I have heard that it takes a special kind of person to care for students with special needs, however, caring for students with special needs makes you a special kind of person! And I want them to continue to inspire themselves and everyone around them!
My Project
We have a variety of students in my classroom. Those students need variety of seating options. The opportunity to choose what best helps them to learn, will be extremely beneficial as it will cause them to think, "What will help me the most?". It is so important for students to understand what helps them.
Every child can learn, but they will all learn differently.
I aim to give every child the tools that they need to learn. The different seating options are so good for students with ADHD, who are on the Autism spectrum, who are kinesthetic learners, etc. The seating options will allow them to learn in the environment that best suits them!
