Every school year I meet new and wonderful children and this year is no exception! I am excited to be teaching first graders and supporting this truly wonderful group of little learners! Although it has only been 1.5 weeks since school started online, I can already tell that these students are kind, thoughtful, creative, and so very ready to learn! These children love to play word games on Zoom (sight word hangman), listen to read-alouds, and engage in Quick Writes.
Like many classroom communities, my students come from diverse backgrounds.
This year I have several students whose parents come from different countries, English learners, and students whose parents don't live together. Regardless of our differences, we have happily come together to form a thriving and vibrant classroom community...even on Zoom!

My Project
Science is such an important part of the learning process...especially for our children! With the demands of reading, writing, and math, science is sometimes looked over. The purpose of this project is to make sure that students not only partake in science...but are excited and passionate to do so!
I am delighted to have become a member of Mystery Science - an organization that promotes the New Generation Science Standards and provides students with engaging and hands-on investigations.
The intent of this project is to receive a year's worth of science materials for each first grader. The materials can be utilized in the classroom or at home to accommodate distance learning. Thank you for considering this project and making science an integral part of learning for these children.
