My Students

Our students come from a small school of 200 students in Maine. We have a variety of backgrounds. My students have creative, curious young minds. We live in a small community with limited resources.

The children are all very thankful for what they do have and work hard for what they have.

Due to living in a small community, it is a challenge to ask for any new materials. Our school works hard at creating a home-like environment allowing children to feel loved, supported, and comfortable.

My Project

I just love hearing the excitement in my second graders when I call them over to their reading group and they love the book they are going to read next! Most second graders fall in love with reading if they can read books of their choice, books that engage them and are inviting to each individual student. The books I am striving to get are all books that my second graders have shown an interest in. These books include funny characters with adventurous stories. I know my students will not only enjoy these books but gain confidence in reading them! The more they love something, the more confident they will become.
