I am a preschool teacher with a classroom with all 4 and 5 year old students. These students come from low-income homes and they have to face many challenges everyday. Our program is looking to provide a variety of materials that will give them quality learning experiences that will help to prepare them for Kindergarten.
My students have a desire to learn, are imaginative, playful, and creative.
Our students learn best through positive attention and hands on learning. Many materials are not available at home so we do our best to provide what we can while they are at school. We want to make learning fun and hands-on.
My Project
Many of my students do not have the opportunity to own brand new books. Each year, we try to provide a new book to each student on their birthday and at the end of the school year. We are requesting books to give them on their last day of Pre-Kindergarten.
These donations would allow us to purchase a new book for each student.
The books will introduce them to what Kindergarten will be like before they start at a new school. Giving the students these books will allow them to have a book of their own and teach them how to properly take care of a book. The students can also use the books to read with their parents or caregivers to promote family engagement. By providing a book to our students, it helps engage families and promote reading.
