You can use Logic to get from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere." -Albert Einstein I love this quote and try to allow students to live by this in my room. A child's imagination is such a beautiful gift and often times in school it's silenced because of time constraints, assessments or rigidness.
I am a teacher for the Talented and Gifted program.
I see students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. I see each grade level of students once a week. My students are very motivated to learn and are very inquisitive. One thing I love about them is their passion to learn more than is expected and that they love to share their knowledge with others. Their creativity amazes me and it's such a joy to see the way they view the world and what they take away from each unit.
My Project
GAGC is one of the only professional development opportunities that is specifically geared towards gifted teachers and gifted students. Keynote speakers, breakout sessions, viewing new resources and technology, and hearing the latest and greatest strategies are just a few of the wonderful things I will do doing at the conference.
"Lighting the Way, What will be your gifted education legacy?", is the theme of the conference this year.
Gifted students are complex, layered, and each one possess different gifts, strengths, and needs. I know I will be able to learn some new strategies to help my students especially when they struggle with balancing academics, leadership skills and struggles, expectations, and social skills.
Gifted students need gifted strategies in other classes, besides just TAG class once a week. I'd love to be able to share these strategies with other teachers in my school. This conference will not only make a difference for me, but it will also touch many teachers in the school.
