My students need a 20 gallon aquarium so they can see science in action.
I teach 5th grade math and science in a high poverty urban school district in Maryland.
My students have a strong interest in science. We have science text books, but the hands on nature of living organisms in the classroom will be invaluable to my students. My goal is to bring real life science into the city and into my classroom.
The aquarium set will allow my students to see many aspects of science in action. From the life cycle to evaporation, hundreds of lessons can be related to the in class aquarium. It will also create an opportunity for students to be responsible for their classroom and their education as we work together to maintain the aquarium habitat.
By connecting my students with this great learning opportunity, you will be making a real impact on their education. My school is proud to boast about our student population; we are 90 percent minority, 90 percent high-poverty, and 88 percent proficient on state tests. You can help us meet our goal of increasing the last number. Believe in our children, and in our public schools.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
