Mr. Rucker from Greenville AL is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need and really deserve a life changing college experience to Huntingdon College's host day on November 9th.

ROCK, ROCK, STEADY-EADY, OUR CLASS IS COLLEGE READY! My students have been excited to learn about what college is and the importance of college for the first time! Many have never been exposed to college, and I hope to show them that Alabama and Auburn are much more than football teams!
My college ready third grade scholars are from an extremely small town.
They are the most hardworking, positive, and respectful kids you will ever meet. They love thinking of themselves as emerging college students, constantly working like a college student, learning like a college student, and behaving like a college student. They attend an extremely high poverty school. Many have never been to a college or had conversational exposure to what a college is and the opportunities a college education can present. Our quest to understand this idea has led us to experience a college in person. We have a fingers crossed that this experience and wish can and will really come true!
This field trip WILL change my third grade scholars' lives forever! To get this thought of college into their minds at this age, may be the difference maker for many of my kids in working toward higher education, especially for a small high poverty town. In class we have been talking a great deal about the habits of college students and how we can incorporate those into our classroom community. We have also set individual goals as a class and researched how college can make those dreams a reality. Students will be able to see these habits and the obtainable nature of their personal goals hands on, and for many experience a college football game for the first time at a host day! I cannot wait to see my scholars faces light up at the connections that will be made from the classroom to an in-person visit to a real college!
I don't want you to make a donation; I NEED YOU!
If you could meet these kids you would really understand. So many of them really need and deserve this experience. Each and every day they come in and work, learn, and behave like college students, trying to reach the personal goals they set for themselves this year. This trip will change their life trajectory completely and open up a pathway to a brighter future. YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN! Plant this seed of college in these kids heart today!
