I need funding to attend the Pathfinders Summer Institute at the University of Indiana in Bloomington.

I teach at a Title I school where my amazing students are energetic, optimistic, full of life, and ready to see just how high they can reach! In addition to 100% of our students receiving free lunch, the children face material hardships quite often. Despite these hardships, our classroom remains a place of love, positivity, and encouragement. We work hard every day to instill a love of life and learning!
My students are always excited and extremely creative!
I love finding new ways to make learning exactly what it should be...FUN!
The title tells it all...I need to go to "school" this summer! I am very excited to announce that I was recently accepted into the Pathfinders Summer Institute which is being held at the University of Indiana this year. Being accepted means that I go on a 5-day adventure where I will be afforded teaching strategies and materials to integrate programming with other areas of the early childhood curriculum, with a special focus on literacy, creative problem solving, arts and dance.
I'll be bringing back knowledge that will allow me to integrate computer science, computational thinking and robotics into Kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms with a playful developmentally appropriate approach.
Playful and developmentally appropriate...every teacher and student's DREAM!
I see this as an opportunity to engage the students and allow them to be a part of something they may not be otherwise. Traditional classroom instruction is still so important, but in our day and age learning how to use technology is a huge part of it. Why not teach them how to use it to their advantage? I'll be trained to utilize Scratch Jr. and KIBO robotics to facilitate learning.
Something so awesome also comes with a big price tag. However, the cost includes the program, airfare, lodging, and meals while I'm there.
I'm so thankful for all of your support and cannot wait to see what this opportunity allows my students to achieve!
