My Students

The students in my class come from all backgrounds. Every child comes to school eager to learn and eager to accomplish so much in their young lives.

My students come from seven different countries (including the US).

Out of the 22 students I have the joy and privilege of teaching, English is not the first language for 11 of my students. Six different languages are spoken in my classroom from English and Spanish to Amharic, Arabic, Pashto and Dari.

The make-up of my class makes my day interesting and rewarding. This is why I teach.

My Project

Computer Science and Math are two areas that go hand-in-hand in school and in the workplace. Everyday Computer at the Pathfinders Summer Institute is a 5-day institute that focuses on bringing computer science and computational thinking into the everyday math classroom.

These strategies are important to addressing all learners and their different needs in the classroom in regards to mathematics and computer science.

This institute will allow me to develop my own materials and lessons that are tied to the specific math curriculum used in my classroom. This way, my students will be able to learn new concepts and have already learned concepts reinforced through different strategies using Computer Science and Computational Thinking.
