Next year I am moving from second grade back to fourth grade. I will have twenty-six fabulous fourth grade students who come from various backgrounds and learn in a variety of ways.
I am hoping to get back into the fourth grade mindset by attending an amazing conference, Get Your Teach On!
This will be my twelfth year teaching at Elden Elementary School in Baldwinsville, NY. I am always looking for new ways to engage students and incorporate hands-on learning and collaboration in the classroom. I am so glad that DonorsChoose.org provides opportunities for teachers to receive funding for professional development.
My Project
Attending the Get Your Teach on Conference would be a dream come true! This conference will allow me to grow professionally in many ways. First, this conference offers a wide variety of break-out sessions from math to literacy and endless new ways to incorporate hands-on learning opportunities in the classroom. This conference will present researched-based strategies that can be incorporated easily in my 4th grade classroom to reach all learners. I will be able to collaborate with other educators and share endless ideas of how to better reach students during interactive mini sessions during the two days. I will be able to walk away from the conference with new strategies to share will my school and colleagues.
This conference will further my understanding of various teaching styles to enable me to reach ALL students!
Sessions include lessons on reading, writing, science & STEM, social studies, and math. There will be a strong focus on using games and math manipulatives, which will help me grow in teaching math and learn new ways to present difficult concepts. As a teacher, I am a lifelong learner who is eager for any opportunity to meet other educators and learn from them. Thank you for your help!
