Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from grades K4 through 5. We are a Title I school in a rural community. Our school has 391 students. Many of our students have never been outside of the town. Though it is a small town, it is a close-knit community. Though we may be far from many places, and not have opportunities like other students, we try our best to give the students here a great learning experience. Before our district allowed all of our students to have free lunch, 96% of them qualified for free or reduced lunch.

My Project

Attending the Pathfinders Institute would give me the opportunity to learn from the Art in Motion class. Art in Motion is a project-based curriculum designed to integrate computer science into art classes. Art has never been my forte, but infusing it into technology may bring out the artist in me. With that confidence, I can bring out some art leaders in my students.

A great teacher is constantly learning new ideas and perfecting their craft.

I want to learn so much more so I can prepare my students for the ever-changing technological world while creating art. With such a busy school day, many students have few opportunities for art outside of the art classroom. This opportunity would allow them time for it.
