This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Teaching at a Title 1 Charter school has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life. My students are so grateful & appreciative for everything. I am in my second year of being the campus math/science coach. Even though I miss being in the classroom, I am thankful for the opportunity to lead teachers and provide resources for each of them. We have 14 amazing K-5 teachers on our campus. Unlike most public schools in the surrounding districts, our class sizes are smaller and leads to better one-on-one time with students.

My Project

It's not true engagement without equal parts fun and academic rigor. During GYTO, you will be learning instructional practices that are directly aligned to Common Core Standards. These best practices will increase your students desire to learn, amp up your academic rigor, and challenge them to think beyond the standards! One of the greatest influences that we have on students in today's classrooms is the way that we make them FEEL about education. This is something that will forever shape their future as a learner. It's time to stretch yourself, push the limits, and step outside of your comfort zone as you work to take your ordinary content and make it extraordinary for your students.
