Ms. Ertmann from University Cy MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need photo printers and paper to help them capture the art of "doing" science. I plan on requiring pictures of results, data, the students performing the labs, etc...in their science notebooks.

My students love to DO science. I spend about half of our class time in the laboratory. We have a lot of equipment, but often the students don't take away as much personal learning from the lab experiences as I would like.
I would like to "capture" the enthusiasm of my students and make their science notebooks a work of art this year.
This notebook will showcase their learning and the individual progress each student makes during the year. I hope that this individual approach to learning will increase motivation and engagement with learning in my classroom and the notebooks will be cherished as much by the students as they are by me.
If you can help me get these photo printers in my classroom we can incorporate real life experiences using these photos into their notebooks. I am ready to embrace my students' selfie culture and help them use it to show everyone else what they are learning.
This year we will make a record of our learning in science notebooks. These portfolios will showcase an individual student's learning and the progress each student makes during the year. I hope that this approach to learning will increase motivation and engagement for students in my classroom and the notebooks will be cherished as much by my students as they are by me.
Using the photo printers, students can include pictures of themself doing the work, as well as equipment, data or other notable memories from the labs they do.
This will allow them to document their learning and make it more meaningful and authentic.
