I am loving teaching at my elementary school in Williamsburg! I teach in an Early Childhood preschool classroom--serving children ages 3-5 years of age. I love bringing the children new opportunities for learning, growing, and becoming the best citizens that they can be!
My classroom is full of children who are energetic and active learners!
They are kind and eager to please! The children have a wide variety of strengths and areas of need. One area that research suggests is hard for many children is the skill of self regulation! Though I strive to work on social/emotional skills daily, there is always room to improve.
My Project
40% of children are missing the #1 skill needed for success: Self-regulation. Current research indicates that a child's social/emotional and self-regulation skills is one of the greatest predictors of a child's success later in school. To help best meet the needs of the children in my classroom, I would love to add another tool to support the children's social and emotional development!
The Feeling Buddies Self-Regulation Deluxe Toolkit will provide our classroom with a helpful tool for teaching children to manage their own behaviors.
The Feeling Buddies are used to help teach self-regulation. The adult teaches the child to self-regulate and then the child teaches the buddies to self-regulate following a five-step process together.
