Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Art is all around us. Everything you look at from the design of our home, to the car we drive, the logos on websites, from the top of our head all the way down to our shoes, an artist created what it looks like.
At our school, we encourage our students to use their whole brain where creating art encourages creative thinking, boosts self-esteem and provides and a sense of accomplishment.
Our students are excited to take art. We are excited to showcase their art for everyone to see. This creates a wonderful supportive sense of pride in their community.
My Project
The camera is used to take pictures of the students to assist them in creating self portraits as well as photographing their art work to document and celebrate this creations to the community.
Since the beginning of time, artists have been creating self portraits.
Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe and Andy Warhol just to name a few will be the artists styles that we will be studying in our series of Self Portraits. Photographing each student's portrait will help them develop an understanding how to draw themselves. In the study of Andy Warhol, we will be printing out their self portraits and coloring them in the style of that artist.
