My Students

I love teaching my 6th graders! My students are excited to learn. Their kindness, sense of humor and respect for me, themselves, and peers are something very special in our room. They love to learn through discussions, inquiry, hands on, and personal connections. My students are grateful for classroom peer and teacher support, but when they have community support they feel a strong sense of value. My 6th graders know when someone believes in them, because someone will invest in them.

My Project

Students will use published literature as a model to analyze and discuss connections as writers. Students will record a collection of their own writing and art in a blank book. The blank books will allow them to have their own work/voice among the shelves and table. This project will allow students materials to independently analyze published authors, partner discussions how and what they will apply to their writing. And quality material to write their own final drafts in blank books. Students' ELA skills will grow because they will have access to tangible work, not just computer documents, allowing them to show and share their writing, as well as comparing work will lead to critical discussions.
