My students need snacks such as pretzels, Nutrigrain bars, and crackers to keep food in our students bellies. We also want a care package of toothbrush/paste to show and teach self-care.
I work with the youngest learners in an urban preschool setting. My students are a diverse group of young learners ages 3-5. Most come from high poverty homes. 78% of the students at my school qualify for free and reduced lunch.
I have students with special needs including communication impairments, students with autism, other health impairments, and students with motor concerns.
It is just a magical experience working with these students each day, and watching them grow. These students come to school eager to learn, and brighten my day.
My Project
Self care and Hunger is a project that will allow our students to take food and self care items home. Having Nutri-Grain Cereal Bars, Rold Gold Tiny Twists Pretzels, and Sunshine Cheez-It Crackers we will be able to teach a lesson on nutrition. This will give students an idea of how to be healthy.
We ask for items like Oradent Kids Stage 2 Toothbrush, Dove White Travel Size Bar Soap, and Cotton Swabs to have a lesson on body care.
Our students are young, and being able to have these items to show how to independently take care of themselves. Most of our students are learning life skills, and being able to have these items will help demonstrate how to care for themselves.
Having these items will also help for the family as well. We are in a low income district, where families are not always able to be the snack and care items the students need.
