I teach 10th grade Modern World History and 11th/12th grade AVID at an inner-city career/technical high school in Oregon. My students are a culturally diverse, inquisitive, and dedicated group of individuals who are in need of classroom materials to help take ownership of their learning.
Despite the overwhelming barriers they face on a daily basis, each of my students demonstrate resilience by continuously striving to grow and learn.

My Project
My AVID Seniors have been working so hard this year on college applications, essays, and scholarships as they prepare to embark on a new chapter of their life. They deserve to take some much needed self-care time to make some items that will help keep them calm and collected during their first year in college next year.
This project includes ingredients to make bath salts, soaps, and oil roller bottles all made from different essential oils that provide therapeutic healing and relaxation to help student manage the stress of their first year in college.
I want to give my students the tools and strategies to help relieve stress and anxiety as they make their way through this new chapter in their lives. Included in this project is a Tibetan singing bowl so we can practice mindfulness techniques and posters to make vision boards that students can take with them when they go to college next year. Please help celebrate all the hours of hard work my students have invested this year and provide an opportunity for them to practice self-care and mindfulness in the classroom together. It is the best gift we can give them as they journey on!
