Help me give my students items such as fidget toys and drawing materials that they can utilize outside of my office for self-care. Snacks and drinks are also very helpful for the health clinic!
Our school is one of the nation's oldest high schools. The students who attend this school are from many different backgrounds, and some are even first-generation immigrants. Day-to-day life for the students is not always easy, so as the mental health clinician, I hope to provide them with some tools they can use for the rest of their lives.
My Project
Returning to school 18 months after not being in the classroom can be stressful for anyone. All the noises, additional people and the worry about the pandemic can lead to feeling overwhelmed very easily.
Having materials that the students can take with them to help with anxiety and other overwhelming feelings is beneficial for everyone involved.
Whether it be a stress ball for them to squeeze when they start to get overwhelmed or having some paper and pencils to draw and get their feelings out, being able to engage in some sort of self-care is important for all.
In addition, snacks and drinks will benefit the school based health clinic that I am part of.
