My Project

I am in a new position at my elementary school that is similar to the work of a guidance counselor and classroom teacher. I work with teachers to teach SEL (social emotional learning) lessons to classes, teach small social skills groups, and work with students one on one with their social/emotional goals.

The materials in this Donors Choose project will help my students in a variety of ways.

These materials will help me create a welcoming space for the students I work with, give students resources to help them calm down and regulate their emotions, and teach different social skills. The books I have selected are focused on specific SEL subjects that will be helpful to use in a group setting with students. The fidgets, activities, and timers will allow students to regulate their emotions in a safe and healthy way and help them become comfortable in my office. The posters I am asking for will demonstrate to students that my space is an open one and no matter how they are feeling they are valid and welcome.
