My students are crazy about reading! They love when they find a book that pulls them into a different world and allows them to escape into a new reality. Many of my students do not have access to a wide variety of books outside of school. Most of their text comes from our school and classroom libraries. Our school and community work hard to provide our students with the materials and opportunities they need to be successful. We want them to have every chance for success possible!
We have a unique community.
Many of my students go home to cows and chickens hanging out in their backyards. The parents in our community are hard workers who often work third shift to provide for their families, but still find time to participate in our school activities. Local business leaders can often be seen having lunch with students, acting as mentors. People who visit our school tell us that they can tell how much our school and community care for our students.
My Project
I am requesting books from three different book series including Harry Potter, I Survived, and Goosebumps. When students are interested in the books they are reading, they are more likely to have the desire and drive to read more and strengthen their reading abilities. Many of the students I teach get the majority of their reading material at school. Therefore, it is important that I provide those books that will help my students develop a life-long love of reading.
After interviewing all my students about their reading interests, I can see a strong need and desire for more high interest chapter series books in our classroom.
The series book I'm requesting are books that my students are craving. They are eager to get lost in a good book series, traveling with the characters as they solve mysteries and go on adventures. Please help me add these books to my library and put a big smile on my students' faces!
