My Students
I am the lucky art teacher to a creative and diverse group of over 700 students in grades K-4. Many of my students are English Language Learners and most are economically disadvantaged. We are a Title I school in Houston. These resilient children already faced many challenges when Hurricane Harvey flooded our city and disrupted last school year with two weeks of lost instruction.
My students look forward to art class because it is a bright spot in their week.
It is a place where they can feel safe, engaged, and happy. I try to provide the most welcoming and inspiring environment possible for all of my students.
My Project
This document camera will allow all of my students to have a clear view of demonstrations. We currently have a very poor document camera, which causes a lot of frustration for the students and their teacher. The image freezes, blurs, or is too hard to see because of low contrast.
When students are able to see a process demonstrated clearly, they can master skills faster and their successes increase by leaps and bounds!
The Epson document camera will allow me to zoom in on key details that students need to understand. It will also let them see real-time demonstrations without the image freezing or blurring. Visual arts is not just about what you see, it's about how you see it.
