My Students
My students and I are navigating hybrid learning which has each of my classes divided into two separate sections. I see each section only once a week. My students are a fun mix of abilities and motivations. Some are already scholars, while others describe themselves as "hands on" intimating that they don't see themselves as book learners. My scholars challenge each other and me with their growth and curiosity. My self-described "hands on" learners challenge each other and me to keep things practical and relevant to their frank needs and desires to be successful in a place where they often feel misunderstood and under-appreciated.
My Project
We meet online on Fridays, uniting our separate sections and full remote students only once each week. This is a huge change in the amount of time we might typically spend together.
A 2nd teacher computer screen will allow me to see EACH of my students' faces while I share demos to their screens from my other screen.
Being seen, and known, is so much a part of teaching and learning, that I worry my students feel invisible when I share my single screen to talk them through an assignment, while I can't see their faces for signs of engagement, confusion, or boredom.
