This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

They say seeing is believing, I say seeing is knowing. The safety of my students is always my main concern. I designed a system for after school dismissal in which student’s car tag numbers could be entered and displayed for teachers to see on their personal devices. Teachers then call these numbers out to students sitting in the hallways. However, elementary students are very tired at the end of the day and excited to go home. As much as teachers try to keep them quiet while they call out the numbers, students still miss hearing their car tag number or the color they are to wait on. This can be a safety issue when students are not where they are supposed to be, as well as a delay in the dismissal process.

I would like to build student ownership into the dismissal process and these mini projectors would allow me to do that for my campus.

By having a few portable mini projectors in strategic locations, students could watch for their car tag numbers to be displayed. The projectors would allow for students to focus on the visual display and see what color they are to proceed to outdoors. This would eliminate students not knowing exactly where to go once they leave the building, thus enhancing student safety.
