Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a low income, rural area with most of my students on free or reduced lunch. I teach Agricultural Science courses, including Plant and Animal Science, a popular science course among our students. I teach students at all grade levels, including ESL students, and special education students (often with little if any additional resources).
My courses are lacking visual aides for the all of my science related courses. Plant and Animal cells are not easily found nor are they easy to see, and so a diagram aid would be tremendously useful for all of my students. Students would be able to identify the parts of both plant and animal cells.
Therefore, I am requesting two visual aides for my courses... a three dimensional model of a plant cell, and a three dimensional model of an animal cell. These items would provide all of my students with an incredibly useful study aide so that they may not only improve their skills in my courses, but prepare for the ACT exam (and other college entrance exams) which now contain science segments that many students struggle with.
Your donation can have an incredible impact on the lives of students who, so terribly often, lack the most basic resources that students at other schools take for granted. Simple models, and other basic learning tools have rarely been available for my students, and YOU can help change that. Please consider making a difference today!
