Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have 30 young men and women on our wrestling team this year that is committed to excelling in the classroom and on the mat! The majority of our students are new to wrestling but they come every day ready to learn, grow, and compete.
Our team is an amazing representation of our inner-city school as a diverse group that comes from all over the world.
Our students are all on free lunches and do not have the funds to afford the equipment needed to compete in wrestling. They have a resilient spirit as they strive each day to grow in their understanding, knowledge, and skill of wrestling. They love to challenge and push each other as they grow as a team.
My Project
The TV and DVD player will help our students to see themselves wrestle and see what they are doing right and wrong on the mat. This will help our student athletes grow in their understanding of wrestling. Many of our student athletes can not afford to pay for athletic gear so the shoes will help wrestlers to be able to compete in the proper equipment. The wrestling tape is necessary consumable to keep our mats together and to provide a safe environment. Our wrestling program is in a rebuilding and restructuring phase. The majority of our wrestlers are freshman and sophmores.
