This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Seeing is believing because learners need to see what is expected.
I teach 7th grade World History students in a California charter school. We're located in a high-need community where many students speak a language other than English at home. Because of this, we use a variety of techniques while teaching in order to help our students find success.
The challenge at our school is technology. Something as simple as a printer/scanner is hard to come by. I have found that my students are more successful when they have examples of work to see (in color)so they know what the expectations are. Clear expectations are mandatory, and a color scanner will allow me to be able to project sample work on the wall to help with this.
I simply need one color scanner for my classroom so that I can make PDF files of sample work for my students. Currently, we only have one black and white scanner on campus for 45 teachers. Although this helps with many of my needs, like scanning work for students who have been absent, it does not allow me to make copies of work to post as samples for students to see. A color scanner will help with many of my frustrations.
Your help will ensure that my students can clearly see what my expectations are. You'll make it possible for me to help my students be successful more often--a task that is essential in today's classroom. Thank you for considering my students for your donation. I promise this scanner will be put to good use, both in my classroom, and throughout our entire campus.
