Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the most resilient individuals I have every been blessed to meet. They have active minds and bodies, always seeking to explore the world around them. Their high energy and love for exploration and creativity drives their learning.
With such a culturally diverse population, my students impress me daily with their ability to accept others for who they are.
To promote literacy efforts and develop an environment that captures this spirit, I have chosen to build on students' individual interests. Together, we can work to help our students develop their learning.
By providing availability to resources that help students access the curriculum using the knowledge they already have, we can help our students move forward in their learning. With their kind hearts, curious minds, and high energy, I want to give them my all and provide them with every opportunity to explore the world around them.
My Project
This document camera will be a life saver for our classroom. The students are very dependent on instruction and modeling, especially because many of my students are English Learning students they heavily depend on visuals. With a document camera that is also a removable iPad, the students would be able to see the worksheet displayed on the board. That very famous saying "Seeing is believing" is exactly what my students need in order to acquire the information from the lesson to learn. These students need to have that visual to learn from. With a document camera, I can display the morning work, math, writing examples, parts of the text or book we are reading, under the camera. Then I can make the corrections instead of writing the sentences on the board. I can place the reading worksheets underneath the camera, that way students can see what I am highlighting or how I am annotating the text. Having the document camera will allow for a greater success rate in learning and overall have a better understanding. The students can use the document in all subjects area and will be able to follow along throughout the day and have a clearer understanding.

These students right now have no interest in learning. If they can't see it they don't understand what to do next. It is difficult to inspire these students, when there are no resources that give all students access to learn. By using an iPad this way in the classroom, I can add to classroom management and the students learning. You may think this is an unneeded accessory, but a document camera will really help all students comprehend and learn.
