Seeing Is Believing, Migration Patterns of Wildlife for Safety.
Help me give my students needed technology of Bushnell trail cameras to use while monitoring wildlife migration patterns and conduct research of local animals.
My students work together to formulate common goals and solutions to solve real world problems. They stay focused in and out of class while developing long term projects we can participate in for many years while working with community agencies.
My students do their best when participating in hands on activities where they see meaningful correlations to their work and positive impacts they have on their projects and community.
My students use higher level thinking strategies and common sense to solve problems. They are insightful and apply what they learn to our pursuits while paying attention to detail. Many of our activities takes years and students realize the importance of their work and accuracy in collecting data for future classes.
My Project
Migrating wildlife is a great concern for people in our area as well as for animals when they cross roads and highways. Many human populations are connected to habitats utilized by wildlife such as urban developments and agricultural areas which has created habitat fragmentation. My students will be able to place trail cameras along roads to monitor and study the migration routes or seasonal movements of wildlife which will help them focus on the need to recognize safety issues for humans and wildlife.
By donating to our project, you will give my students the opportunity to research and acquire information about migration patterns of wildlife across roadways that they will use to inform people about where migrating animals are likely to cross roads to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions.
The migration studies will also lead my students to look at environmental changes that affect these patterns and come up with possible solutions for habitat development and making resources available for wildlife. Students will also be making recommendation for wildlife crossing signs for road sections and wildlife crossing structures or fencing to possibly deter animals from approaching roads.
