My Students

My students are mostly 10th graders in sophomore English. Many were born in countries other than the U.S. Most are below grade level in reading and about a third of them are in various stages of learning English.

The most common trait of my students is a strong affinity for technology!

More than half say they prefer math and science to English or reading and other humanities. Most of them are experts in accepting change, good or bad, in their lives.

My Project

Students in English class need to be able to clearly see projected documents, photos, graphics and 3-D objects before they can begin to respond to them.

A high-definition document reader for projection will allow my students to have a common focal point for thinking, discussing, listening and writing.

Students need active modeling for during-reading activities, such as annotating text, finding evidence or examples, and revising drafts of their writing. My students are excited that they will be able to share their own writing, projects to present and even their own videos without having to worry about saving, printing and transferring files by e-mail.
