My students are an amazing group of fourth graders who love to read and are thirsty for new learning experiences. Their hearts have been broken by our sudden school closure, but they are resilient, and we are continuing to grow within our new normal. Our student population is extremely diverse. Over 40 languages and dialects are spoken in the homes of our students. Many are the first generation in their families born in the United States. As a group, they are excited to learn and ripe for new adventures in learning. They are inquisitive, innovative, and crave complexity on a constant basis. With our new shelter-in-place mandate, they are all learning while at home.
My Project
We are adjusting; I expected nothing less from these amazing children. They are still hungry to learn and have great adventures each day. I would love to reach them in more effective ways to help make their learning more reminiscent of our classroom experiences. Having a document camera at this time would allow me to share books and materials more easily and giving my students authentic learning opportunities as we continue with distance learning. My students often have a difficult time seeing the resources in my work space, having light to illuminate books and materials will give them better access to our lessons, both live and recorded. In addition, the Rocketbook pens and beacons will allow me to scan, project, and share lesson notes with my students.
My wish Is to help my students continue on the road to success in spite of the challenges of our new circumstances.
Being able to access basics at home like pens and transparency film for lesson materials and letters will help us make this transition a little smoother. Having stamps to mail them supplies, materials, and words of encouragement is crucial. Please help us make our virtual experience more like our physical classroom experience, so that we can have a piece of our normal back and continue to soar.
