Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a middle school that is motivated and driven by our students, choice and movement. Choice in topics/content have already increased my students' engagement in my classroom, so I am excited to see how their choice in workspaces and seating could do the same!
Flexible seating allows students to move within the classroom in a responsible, mature way that teaches self-awareness and self-advocacy for their own learning environment.
What a great way to maximize individual learning!
How will flexible seating help my classroom? Floor seating options such as wobble discs, floor mats or lap desks help students spread their workspaces around the room and on the floor. Tall tables/moveable desks, stability balls and pedal bikes allow students to stand or move their feet/bodies while they learn. Kick bands provide students with other sensory stimulation while they keep their mind focused. Your donation helps establish this environment for middle schoolers that love this unique way to learn and support their individual needs!
My Project
Students will be able to bounce on the Exercise Balls while learning, and also have good core stability/back alignment to engage their brain!
Choice in learning spaces promotes engagement and excitement for more learning!
Alternatively, some students often prefer to stand while they are working, and would be allowed to do so at one of the standing table options.
The Lap Tray would be used for flexible standing options at their current seats, or even easily transferred to the floor for seating options there. Plus, these allow students to form small groups anywhere in the classroom!
Any way they choose, it is their own workspace and their own learning!
