I am a special education preschool teacher. I teach Monday through Thursday; morning and afternoon classes. I love my job and my students. I want the best for my students. My classroom is a mixture of students with various disabilities as well as general education students that pay tuition. I also have students learning English as their second language. They all have goals they are working on and accomplishing. My favorite moments are when they reach their goals and have a huge smile on their face!
My lesson plans are very creative combining a variety of learning styles, and using many of their senses.
The students are encouraged to move around the room exploring the different centers and materials available. This encourages them to interact with each other and use their communication skills all while learning.
Preschool builds their foundational skills for their future school years. They are learning social skills, communication skills, their abc's, and 123's, writing, singing and movement, including gross motor (kicking a ball, hopping, etc.) skills. The preschool students enjoy coming to school, making friends and learning. I want to advance their learning using hands on materials to reenforce numerical, and alphabetical skills.
My Project
My students love to explore and discover their world. Besides learning their letter, numbers, colors, shapes, etc. I would like my students to have a love for science too! They are always bringing in from recess or from home a bug, leaf, acorn, rock, snow, etc. The students are always asking questions about the things in tjeor world. I would love to give them a science center with a variety if material to explore the things they bring inside the classroom. Also add things to the science center for new discoveries and joy about their world they find so fascinating!
