Our school is a residential school that helps kids with behavioral, emotional and social disorders. These disorders may sometimes cause the students to perceive situations differently and feel like they have been forgotten or discriminated against.
We have a wide range of ages and disabilities in our school, but we are all one community.
We are in a suburban setting near a larger city. We are the only residential school locally. Most students who come to live here stay for an average of 2 years. We also take in students from the community who would benefit from the small classroom settings and individualized attention.
My Project
I teach biology to students, and they want to learn and see everything they can. We walk the school and see biology in action.
We also want to see biology up close and personal with a microscope and slides.
Talking about how cells look or what blood looks like is one thing, but actually seeing it magnified where every detail is shown, is a complete different story for a young mind. With the slides, my students will be able to collect samples from our environment and see them up close. We will be able to do projects on how living things are put together and how germs grown. The options are endless!
Help me bring biology to life through the use of a microscope that my students can share and explore and learn.
