Many students in my class are visual learners and need to SEE a lesson modeled in order to truly understand what is being taught. It is difficult to model lessons while at the same time provide a clear view for EVERY student in the room.
The students in my class are eager learners.
They are excited to be in third grade with the special anticipation of learning cursive writing, multiplication and division. Our school is a Title I school where a majority of the students come from low income households. Many students are on free or reduced cost lunch and often need help with school supply provisions. But in spite of what their home life may provide, they come to school ready to learn and try their best at what they set out to do. My students are respectful and love being in our classroom. They want to learn as much as they can and persevere with their lessons. They are like a family in our classroom. The students in my class love hands-on projects and they like to "be the teacher" to their classmates. They know they are in class to learn and are motivated to help each other.
My Project
With a document camera, ALL lessons will be more visible through projection on our classroom Smartboard. I will be able to demonstrate math lessons and math games, model cursive handwriting and allow students to share their written work with the whole class. Students will be able to clearly see science experiment demonstrations rather than have to dodge the heads of other inquisitive students who sit in front of them. The uses of a document camera in the classroom are endless.
My students would greatly benefit from having a document camera that we can connect to our Smartboard.
They would have access to current technology and benefit from the large projection of lessons in all subject areas.
