I am a speech language pathologist who works with students with speech and language delays and disabilities. My students are in both regular education and special education classes. Most of my students receive pull-out therapy sessions in my speech and language therapy room. My students range from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.
We are a Title I school, and although my students face many hardships, I want them to learn that they can set goals and become successful.
I love making my classroom a place kids want to be and love coming to every day.
My Project
My Pre-K articulation students are working on saying their speech sounds correctly. I want to help to make learning more meaningful for them. We need a set of manipulative tubs that contains multiple items beginning with each letter/sound of the alphabet, including common blends and diagraphs.
We will make "Sound Boxes" using these small alphabet manipulatives, which will allow my students to utilize tactile, visual and sensory learning as we practice words that have their "targeted" speech sounds.
As an example, a student working on "p" sound would use the items in the "p" sound box to practice articulating the "p" correctly in word and sentence production tasks.
With these fun new resources, my students will be extra motivated and engaged in therapy! We would really appreciate your support!
