This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am slowly but surely building a love of science for my 7th grade scientists. They enjoy watching teacher demonstrations and I am often able to “hook” them on the lesson or concept that we are learning. Many of the demonstrations have smaller details and outcomes that are necessary to student understanding. However, it is difficult for many students to get a good view of the demonstration from where they sit within the classroom.

Students learn best with modeling and demonstrations; with a wireless document camera, my students will see me complete demonstrations from my teacher lab station.

The wireless document camera will help project what I am doing up on our Smartboard so my students can be engaged during instruction. I will be able to zoom in on the experiments as I am teaching and explaining what is taking place. This will allow students from around the room to easily see the lesson in action. Being able to see the experiment up close will be especially helpful when we work on our chemistry lessons and the students can see the reactions and outcomes better.

Viewing the demonstration up on the Smartboard will engage all the students, no matter where they are sitting in the classroom. This will improve student participation and lead to better discussions and student understanding. Please help me give my 7th grade scientists a better science experience!
