My students need an ELMO visual presenter so they may view, critique, peer review, and edit student writing.

Visual Learners! My students need to see what is being asked of them in order to fully understand the scope of the assignment, essay, or project. I teach at an all-boys senior high school. My 11th grade World Literature students need examples of everything, especially if there is a specific way things need to be done. My students live and go to school in a high-need community. There are a number of special education students in my classroom. My school is a charter school for African American young men.
My students, unfortunately, are very accustomed to using worksheets. I am not an advocate for "plug and chug" work. In order to expect the most out my students and their work, I need to show them how to do it all. I cannot expect, and do not expect them to read my mind. The clearer I can be with my expectations the more successful they will be in my class. If I am able to show them examples of what I am asking them to complete they will have no choice but to be successful.
Having an ELMO document projector will allow my students to see everything that we do in class. They will be able to ask questions about any confusions that they have before they are asked to complete the assignment on their own. Our students attend school in a neighborhood active with violence and gang participation. The school they attend has a college preparatory focus. Our students are required to take college writing course starting their junior year. In these courses they are asked to look at various example of college essays, college applications, college acceptance letters and other writings done by actual college students. In this class specifically the document projector will allow students to navigate through these examples easily without myself having to tell them "Please count to line 14 on the second page," or "find the line in the application that says 'school code'." Having the ability to show my students exactly what I want them to reference will cut down on any confusions that they have during the reviewing portion of class. Being able to see example of good college writing will ensure their success in college.
Your help will ensure that any confusions that my students have can be cleared up immediately.
