Motivated, Positive, Willing, and Able - my students are my reasons for loving this career! They want to achieve, they believe in the power of “yet”, they put forth effort, and their potential is endless! These students deserve the best and I am willing to do anything I can to give it to them! This project is for my kids- my students!!
Our school is small, positioned in a rural community, and has less than 300 students.
These children are deserving of new classroom materials, as they are using books currently that I have had for years. We tape the pages back together and keep using the same old things! Luckily, my kids love to read, so doing this doesn’t phase them! But I want them to have fresh materials, new books, and I want to display them to attract their eyes and activate their brains!
My Project
I believe that having books readily available, easily visible, and immediately accessible is important when inviting students to read. Having these magnetic book displays will aide in helping to build a desire within my students to want to engage in reading. My students need exposure to reading materials, quality literature, and opportunities to hear what “good reading” sounds like. Through using books on CD, they can listen to stories and begin to enhance their understanding of matching voice to print. The students can track as they read, build concept of word, increase their exposure to words, and continue to grow their reading abilities!
