My students are very special to me. Most students have not experienced what most of mine have in their life time. Last year, Hurricane Harvey hit our town really hard, in fact the eye of the storm was over our town. Our school was closed for about 9 weeks, and left many students homeless as well. Students were not only having to start their school year over again at another school, many were having to pick up the pieces of their home. My students have been pushing themselves harder than they have before. Some of the students were not able to go to other towns to go to school due to transportation issues. Most students, because of this, are now behind in school.
I still have students who are not back into their homes, they are still picking up the pieces of Hurricane Harvey.
My students know where they need to be, and have the best attitudes and are doing what they need to do to get back on track. This year I have promised my students that we will fight to gain growth and than some. We will work as one to close the gaps.
My Project
The 8th grade ELAR classes have moved most of the resources to online text. By doing so, students are in need of headphones to have full access to these programs. Some students have their own and bring them to class everyday. However, there is a large amount of students who are still in the need of headphones. Most families are still recovery after Hurricane Harvey hit out town. We are wanting to help the families by taking of the stress from them.
By adding headphones to the 8th grade ELAR classes, students are able to use the full benefits of their reading program.
After Hurricane Harvey, our school lost most of their in class supplies. We are working to build that for our students to be successful in class. Please help us rebuild our school and help our students in their success in school. Rebuild Texas
