The majority of my students are exceptional learners which means they need an Individualized Education Plan to help with their success in the classroom. Each of them receives academic and behavior support with a special education teacher. All of my students are elementary age but have been assessed with having a skill that needs to grow in order to be able to access grade-level content. For some, that means building their basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. For others, we work on reading comprehension and citing evidence in a text to support our answers. They are bright, shining stars and just want the opportunity to show everyone what they can do. Together we set goals for each student that focuses on skills they need to be successful, such as reading comprehension and math.

My Project
You know the old saying, "A picture says 1000 words"? Well, it's true! Students learn through many different ways and pictures are a great start in keeping the new words we will learn from the 240 vocabulary books in our brains. With picture dictionaries and thesauruses, my students will be able to quickly look up new words and know what they mean.
Having a wide variety of stories available allows students the chance to read what they want and build on their own vocabulary.
The workbooks, like grade-level reading comprehension and leveled informational text, will provide a mix of levels and topics for students to choose from based on their interest. It will also allow me to help students at their current level while still giving them room to grow. Each student is different and each student needs the chance for me to meet them where they are for success.
