Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the excitement on your children's face on their first day of school? Now imagine that your child doesn't speak the same language as anyone else in the room. My school is filled with refugee and immigrants from around the world who are experiencing their first English speaking classroom.
My students come to school every day excited to learn English and often are attending school for the first time!
I help students learn English (in all content areas) and hope to help them feel comfortable with the American education system. Learning English as a second, third, or fourth language is no easy task, but my students are eager learners!
My Project
The use of iPads is a daily activity in my school. We use small groups to help students learn basic academic skills as many of them have never been to school before entering our building. The staff in my building work together to make all small group stations meaningful learning time for students.
One of the stations students love most during small group time is Omos learning on the iPads, they are engaged in using technology and learning.
All of the students have already been exposed to Osmos on the iPad, but we are needing some new and updated games for them to play. Once they have conquered a skill, it's time to move on to the next, but we don't have the supplies we need to be able to continue to push them to what is next. By having additional Osmo games, students will be able to continue to play and learn even as their skills develop.
