Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"True creativity often starts where language ends." I disagree with Arthur Koestler's opinion about expressing one's self through words! My students use their newly acquired knowledge of the Spanish language creatively to show what they have learned through projects.
With a hornet as our mascot, my students are eager to be "superior stingers" this semester!
However, these students have many obstacles outside of school that can easily inhibit their ability to learn. Nevertheless, when they come into Spanish class, they strive their best to learn. They enjoy demonstrating what they have learned through creative projects, and they show pride in their work.
My Project
As we begin our second semester, our classroom is running low on supplies that we need in order to keep showing our creative use of the Spanish language. Construction paper will be used for projects, such as family trees and "friendbook" pages. Students will describe their family members and friends with their newfound understanding of adjectives and sentence structures in Spanish.
Pencils are a tool used daily in Spanish class. Because one component of learning a language is writing, pencils are in high demand in our classroom. They will be attached to the clipboards to allow students to borrow them when necessary. Thus, no student will be unable to participate, simply because they don't have a writing tool.
Learning a language is a fun way to share in conversation with peers. However, sharing germs sometimes keeps students out from learning. The hand sanitizer will help keep the sharing in our classroom to conversations only!
President Franklin D.
Roosevelt said, "Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." Please help my students attain this happiness in Spanish class!!
