Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second graders attend a diverse inner-city school in California where over half of the student population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch.
My students are a sweet, diverse, hardworking, energetic, self-motivated group of learners.
Each one of my students is very special and brings their own unique strengths and needs to our classroom community. They especially enjoy reading books of all kinds, listening to read alouds, playing math games, doing Science investigations, and showing their creativity through their artwork.
My Project
Flexible seating is very important for my students to be able to produce the work they need to do. Sometimes they need to sit on the floor, stand, or sit in a chair. It just depends on the activity they are doing.
Traditional desks and chairs are great for some activities and types of classwork, but other activities call for flexible seating!
We need some portable lap desks for students to use anywhere they are inspired to work and still have a flat surface to work on. We also need more wobble cushions for when students want to sit on the floor comfortably to do group work or for students who need to move in their chairs in order to focus.
