Help me give my students Chromebooks to expose them to the world, while providing intervention and enrichment, by doing research.

My students begin their day with reading, writing, projects and lots of research. The students are at a variety of reading levels so I want to be able to have a variety of materials available. I truly feel it is important to teach my students about the world using Non-fiction articles and lots of research. Our challenge in the classroom is not enough computers. More than 1/2 my class are African American children who receive free breakfast and lunch. They live in a poverty stricken area. They are not exposed to the world beyond the city limits. They know too much about crime, hunger and desperation. They love coming to school and feeling safe. Our school is trying to educate while showing empathy towards others. I am using Mindfulness techniques daily, but it's a challenge on a daily basis to keep my students focused, engaged and aware. Having computers in the classroom will assist us in exposing our students to the world around them. We want them to dream big and achieve even more. We want them to know with hard work, anything is possible.
These Chromebooks will be the bridge between the real world and their world. They will not only help raise their reading levels and awareness, but they will bring the world to them. Achieve 3000 is a way for us to cross that bridge. However, a detour that we have is not enough computers in our classroom. The program, when used daily, reinforces speaking, listening and writing by encouraging the students to share their thoughts while working on their independent reading level instead of a level that frustrates them. The data provided, helps us guide our instruction that will support their learning. By doing this, each student will navigate their learning, by working at their independent level, while reading high interest articles from all over the world. Reading on their level will help them begin to enjoy reading and to become life long learners.
