My Students

To become better writers, my students need examples of good writing to challenge their thinking during writing workshop. Materials to show how to use good ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency and conventions will aide my students in their writing development.

I teach second grade in a small, rural Iowa school.

Due to budget cuts and limited resources in our district we are not able to purchase curriculum materials to supplement our language arts program. Learning to write using the Six Traits will be very beneficial to my students as they build their understanding of what good writing looks and sounds like.

My Project

I am requesting The Trait Crate for Second Grade. This resource will be used daily for writing workshop mini-lessons to give students excellent models of writing. It includes a collection of picture books selected for each trait, teaching guides, and a CD and posters with sing-along songs for each of the Six Traits.

Please help me expand my writing workshop by helping fund this wonderful resource for my classroom.
